A blog is a discussion or informational site published on the world wide web. 

It consists of discrete entries ( posts) typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). 

Blog is the short form of weblog. It is like an online diary or journal and are created for an audience.

Until 2009, blogs were usually the work of a single individual and often covered a single subject. more recently “multi author blogs” (MABs) have developed with posts written by large numbers of authors and professionally edited. 

The rise of Twitter and other microblogging systems helps to integrate MABs and single author blogs into societal new streams.

Just like a diary or journal, a blog is relaxed, making it an easy and comfortable way for students to get writings. readers can usually leave comments, which lead to discussions about the blog content. for example a blog about flipping your classroom can lead to a discussion between novice and experienced teachers about common questions, advice, tips and clarifications.

For more readership, blogs are made public by connecting your blog with social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc.

As the traditional classroom is changing nationwide and current and future careers are dependent on
strong computer skills, blogging helps the students to develop necessary skills for their continuing education and good employment.

Anyone having a google account can create blog via simple steps.

Microblogging

Micro blogging is a web service that allows the subscriber to broadcast short messages to
other subscribers of the service.
A micro blog differs from a traditional blog in the sense that its content is typically smaller in actual file size.
Microblogs allow users to exchange small elements of content such as short sentences, individual images, video links etc. which may be the major reason for their popularity. These small messages are called microposts and can be made public on website or distributed among specific group of subscribers.
