Quiz is an important extended curricular activity. The major aims of science quiz are as follows.
1) To explore new information:
Students will get a chance to acquire advanced and recent information. Usually the questions of the quiz programme comprise of advanced and recent information. This will help students to acquire such valuable information and help to develop scientific awareness.
2) To develop interest in scientific activities:
Participation in quiz programmes will help students to foster interest in other scientific activities also.
3) To develop communication skills:
Development of communication skills is very important, as we have to communicate effectively with other members of the society.

Organisation of Science Quiz :
- Announcement : The first step of quiz programme is with respect to venue, date and time, theme/ topic and its nature, whether oral/ written. Announcement should be made in advance, so that students get enough time for preparation. At least one week‟s time should be given for preparation. If the programme is to be conducted in written form, you should give necessary directions to students to bring writing materials.
- Preparation : At this stage, the organizer decide the number of questions for quiz programme. Collect the list of participants then, and make necessary seating arrangements for them. A quiz master, preferably a science teacher, should be supportive, communicative, and energetic person. If you propose to conduct oral form of quiz, select one teacher as marker, who is responsible for marking scores on the score board.
- Execution of quiz programme : Enough seating and lighting facilities should be given for each participant, quiz master, and listeners. The score board should be placed in such a way that it is visible for all at the venue. The questions should be presented in such a way that it is visible for all at the venue. The questions should be asked loudly and give explanations if necessary. At the end of the programme, do tabulation and declare the results. These are the procedures to be followed while organising science quiz programme.
