Digital Taxonomy

Digital Taxonomy- Specifications in the form of technological verbs


      Bloom’s RBT describes many  traditional classroom practices, behaviours and actions, but it does not account  for the new processes and action associated with information technologies  (IT).Digital taxonomy  is an update of RBT which attempts to account for the new behaviours and actions emerging as technology advances and become more ubiquitous.







Specifications in the form of technological verbs


Action verbs from digital taxonomy that can be used in classrooms, along with relevant examples:

Remembering

Bookmark : Saving a webpage for easy retrieval later. 
Example: Students bookmark research articles for a history project.

Highlight : Marking important text. 
Example: Highlighting key points in an online article using a digital tool.

Retrieve : Accessing saved information. 
Example: Retrieving a saved document from cloud storage for reference.

Understanding

Annotate : Adding notes to digital text. 
Example: Annotating a PDF document with comments and highlights for better understanding.

Blog : Writing and publishing online posts. 
Example: Students write a blog post summarizing their science experiment results.

Comment : Providing feedback on digital content. 
Example: Commenting on classmates' blog posts to engage in discussion.

Applying

Edit : Modifying digital content. 
Example: Editing a video for a class presentation.

Execute : Running a program or app. 
Example: Executing a coding project using a programming environment.

Share : Distributing content online.

These action verbs help integrate digital tools and activities into classroom learning, enhancing student engagement and understanding through various levels of cognitive processes.
